SHELL VS Shape

4 (In circle): Bowl size
S: Shell Briar finish
ENGLAND 2 : 1960+2
The pipe is stamped with a supplemental date code (4). This code might have been added because the pipe remained in a Dunhill shop inventory for an overly long period or it was sent back to the factory for additional work or repair.
• Value (Estate - Nov 2011): 275.00 US $ • 208.00 €

SHELL BRIAR

ODA 851

 1963

ODA: Oversized Dunhill A

851: shape # in the ODA 800 serie

ENGLAND 3 : 1960+3

The not underlined year suffix and the lack of patent # are the clues allowing to date this Dunhill ODA from 1963 and not from 1953.

The "7" seems to be a second year suffix: The pipe crafted in 1963 may have been sold in 1967.

• Value (Estate - Jun 2012): 591.00 US $ • 468.00 €
